Love.

We've been cleaning and organizing some spaces in our house, de-junking and attempting to streamline things.  Ha. We try this on a regular basis, and still we have so much junk.  So I was contemplating throwing out my old, dried up wedding flowers that have been sitting on our headboard collecting dust for 11.5 years now.  But I couldn't do it.  I think I might cut off some of the flowers and save them in a little box for Harper to have someday.  Who knows?  Maybe she will be crazy and sentimental like her mother, and really appreciate it.  Or maybe she'll wonder what is wrong with me.

So big!

Very suddenly, Harper is 9 months old.  She is doing all kinds of new things like:
eating food by herself.  (along with anything else she finds on the floor... very scary!)
Here is photo documentation of this girl's crazy legs.  I fear that she will need braces on her legs at some point, because this is how she prefers to sit most of the time.  Yes, just the way the school nurse firmly instructed us all NOT to.  She also does a scooty-crawl around the house that is the weirdest mode of transportation yet in our family, and we have had our share of weird scoots.
She is so precious and fun.  Sometimes when I look at her I am overcome with so many emotions.  She is just right, just perfectly perfect for our family.  How we adore her!

Outing.

Here are some month-old photos from a wintry walk we took along the canal trail.  The trail runs below USU campus, and there are several sets of stairs built up the steep hillside to reach campus.  It's a really cool place, and the view of the valley is spectacular.  My brother, Lee, recently found a fort someone has constructed up there.  It looks like someone might even live there part time; the boys were disgusted with the litter they found there.  At first I thought it was really awesome, and then I got a little creeped out.  Nevertheless, we had a good walk.

NYC!

Um. Sorry about Mr. Jay-Z's language, but the song is too perfect for this post! (Justification at its finest.)
Jason and I just got back from an awesome trip to the Big Apple!  What an amazing trip.  We seriously tried to do it all!  Of course we couldn't do everything, so we'll have to go back.  I can't wait to take my kids there.  This is us on the Empire State Building, which was a really, really cool building.
Here's the lobby of our very chic hotel, Hudson Hall.

I L.O.V.E.D the window displays at Bergdorf Goodman.

We ate many pretzels.

Here's a loooooong subway escalator.
King Candy at Toys-R-Us in Times Square.

Yes, we even made it onto the David Letterman Show.  And I really mean it!  We were caught on camera!  We're famous now, so if you want our autographs, take a number.

Our hotel room.

The Statue of Liberty, because a trip to NYC would be incomplete without it. Seriously, it was beautiful.

And a little cold out on Liberty Island.

Ellis Island's Immigration Museum was absolutely beautiful and deeply touching.

It has been beautifully restored.

Ground Zero was truly a humbling place to visit.  The temporary memorial there is so powerful.
We went in many a church on our trip.  They were all glorious.

Momofuku Noodle.
I know I'm behind the times just barely seeing Wicked for my first time.  But oh, how I loved it!
Our hotel was just around the corner from Central Park!

Jason enjoyed a Cel-Ray (celery) Soda at Katz's Deli.  Home of the famous scene from When Harry Met Sally.  You know the one.

The bridge that was named after me.
Spotted some yarn art on Broadway.
Jason flashes his Wall Street signs.
Lots of subway riding...

The NYC Public Library. Totally, totally, amazing.  Worth a return trip for sure.

Noone got hurt on the set of Spiderman the night we went.  I was almost sick with worry the whole time.  All the stunts and the set were amazing. But it was long.  Really long.

A day filled with artistic wonders.

Gaugin
Warhol

On of my all-time favorite paintings!  Christina's World by Andrew Wyeth.

The crown jewel of all the artwork we saw was Starry Night by VanGogh.  I have taught many an art class using this painting as the subject.  Seeing it in real life was such a treat.  It is even more beautiful in person that I could believe.

Out a window at the MOMA.

VanGogh was a genius.

On a walk above the Hudson River.  We went to an out-of-the-way museum called The Cloisters one day.  It was incredible.  It houses all kinds of Medieval artifacts.

Lots of walking done on this trip.

Inside The Cloisters.
Gorgeous statue.

Here is Jason and some dinosaur bones at the American Museum of Natural History.  I can't wait to bring the kids here!
We had cold but clear weather until our very last day when we woke up to snow! (This was our view to the West.) We were very nervous that our flight would be cancelled.  But miraculously the snow stopped just long enough for us to get home.

Christmas Recap

Our house.  Is a very, very, very, very fine house.
Good looking bunch of ruffians.
Here's Harper stretching out before the ward party.
Harper and Daddy!

This photo is too great.
Ward members and friends Roqui and Angel Lugo joined us for our traditional Christmas Eve fondue party.

Mmmmm, good.

Saving some for later.
The aftermath, Christmas morning.

He still has both eyes so far.

Finn's new "poggy ba-pa."

Chilling in his cool new chair.

Budding scientist.
I'm telling you, my family is the best.  Don't deny it!

More evidence of my family's coolness.  This is Jaime in her new shimmer-top, showing us double dream hands!
Nephew Christian came for a visit with Linda right after Christmas.  Christian turned 15 while he was here!

Oooooh, the Kinect is so fun!  We partied at Andy and Kate's on New Year's Eve.  Here they are duking it out.

Happy, happy holidays all around.
