One little monkey.

Tragedy struck about 6 weeks ago.  Finn was helping Jason stoke the wood-burning stove, and  put his had right on the hot stove, burning the heck out of it.  I have 4 rowdy boys who have experienced various wounds over the years, but this injury was the worst yet.  He screamed and screamed and could not be consoled.  Here he is bandaged up after the doctor's visit.
Finn wore the burn dressing for 2 weeks.  The day after we removed the bandages, he was very cautious with his hand, not opening his fingers at all.  Sooooo, when he took a flying leap off the bed that night, he must have been nervous about landing on that hand.  We think he must have been protecting it, which caused him to land funny, which caused... THIS:
Radius and Ulna, both fractured.  His little arm was all deformed and sunken in.  Horrible.
Finn was the bravest patient that ever there was.  He held so still while they x-rayed it, while they iced it and when they gave him an IV.  (Which took forever.  I was about to have a heart-attack watching her fish around for a vein.)  Everyone was blown away by how brave he was.  They had to put him under anesthesia in order to set the bone.  That was the hardest part for me.  Yuck.

Here's the brave boy a few days later at the orthopedic doc getting his real cast on.  He chose black.
I talked to the doctors about my concerns about this boy.  He is only 2 after all, and this is his third (and worst by far) broken bone.  They assured me that his bones look normal and healthy, and that he is probably just a tough little boy trying to keep up with his brothers.  Yep.  He is.
