Sick Days

Okay, I know I have little to complain about here. This is really our first time getting sick this year, so we've been lucky, and it's about our turn. Right now my sister, Jaime, is very sick, and so was her little boy, and Kate & Andy's kids have all been sick, and out neighbors... So it's not just us. It's everywhere! But here's our pity party anyway. We decided to all get sick together, which has actually been a good thing. We can all just get this out of the way, right? In a couple of weeks we are leaving for Disneyland, so I'm glad we're sick now in the comforts of our own home rather than miserable in a hotel room or in the car. Everyone has been feverish/coughing/runny nose/sore throatish since about Thursday. I cried several times on Friday, sure I was going to end up with pneumonia again. I know it scared Jason, who had to be out of town. I was telling him "We're fine, we're really fine...." except I was totally bawling while I said it, and my voice was gone. I don't think he believed that we were really fine. We were, of course, but emotions were running amok. Feverish kids are so sad, and being up all night can make anyone a little nuts.

BUT! My Mom saved the day. In fact, she just left. :( She came up on Saturday when she found out we'd all been sick, and absolutely went to work doing everything for us, and insuring that I would rest as much as possible. She shopped, cooked, cleaned and ironed all the clothes that have been piling up for months. Jason asked, while we were eating real mashed potatoes at dinner last night, if I could please get sick more often. I guess I could at least fake it. Really, we have been so well cared for. I love having her around, and it seems like we haven't been able to see each other much lately, so it was extra nice. (Even though I was sleeping a lot of the time.) We even sat up and watched the final installment of Pride and Prejudice together last night. I love my mom. She is the epitome of selfless service. Thank you, Mom. We all love you so much!!!

Owen is the only one of the kids who seems to be still suffering. The other two are still coughing, but that can go on infinitely. I seem to be the slowest recovery of the bunch, but that's just because I'm old. I really do think I have some separated ribs from coughing fits. Ouch.

Jason and I went to see Dr. Wood about his chronic sore throats. Looks like he'll be getting his tonsils out when we return from our trip to California. Lots of fun!

I'm so glad your mom was there to help you out! It is so frustrating to be sick and have sick kids at the same time- I would have been crying too. I hope everyone gets feeling better soon.

You are so much better than me-- I only have 1 and was crying! It's so good to be on the up & up!
Will you ask Jason to tell Ty after his surgery that is was a cakewalk? I've been trying to get him to do that & that sinus surgery for ages but he keeps canceling the appts with the specialists, so he gets sick much too often. In which case I do have 2 kids to take care of! :)

Oh & I forgot to say I'm glad you're feeling better & mom IS great! She stopped by after leaving your house yesterday & was going to go get us dinner but for the 1st time is a week I had dinner ready. Dang!
Dad is awesome too. He's been checking in on us & was even the one who made me finally go to the doc before my eardrum burst. Good guy, that one!

I'm so sorry you've all been sick! If I had known I would've brought you some of the tortellini soup I made the other day...now I've consumed most of it. I hope you are all better soon and that Jason's recovery time is quick with the tonsil removal. Will he get to eat lots of ice cream? A trip to Aggie's would be good. Your mom sounds like a lifesaver, what a wonderful person, and I do not think the apple falls far from the tree.

Ah, man!! Not the usual funny times at the Lambert house that I LOVE reading about!! Scott and I just got over the miserable stuff going around, too..NO good!! Get better! I miss seeing you guys often! But...perhaps we're in line to have many more run-ins..you need to make sure Owen is up on the list for 4-yr-old lab, because I just found out that I'm teaching again next year!! Yay! We still need to come by and see you..it's uncanny how every time I go to call you to set up a time, we get sick..and apparently you don't like such things, so we've decided not to spread germs with an entire family! But we still need to come visit!! Say hello to everyone from "Teacher Mary!!"

I think the whole world is sick right now. We just go from one thing to the next passing it along to each and every one of us. I am having a hard time remembering the last time one of us was NOT sick. However, being pregnant and sick TRUMPS it all! There truly is nothing worse. I am so sorry! Thank goodness for our mothers!

What's this I hear about you having pneumonia. Natalie informed me on Monday that you have pneumonia. Is that true?

No, no. No pneumonia here. Thank goodness! Natalie and I must have had a communication breakdown. :)
